Star Wars: The Last Jedi writer/director Rian Johnson is expected to work on a new Star Wars trilogy but we still don't know what he's planning to do with it. All we know is that the new trilogy will be "separate from the episodic Skywalker saga" and new characters will be introduced in it. Johnson most likely has an idea for the new trilogy already, because according to the Scottish news website, Dailyrecord, Johnson will start filming in June of this year in Argyll, Scotland and other surrounding areas off a major road called Rest And Be Thankful.

"As is now customary with any Star Wars production, the movie is shrouded in secrecy but they want to shoot scenes around the Rest and Be Thankful. Further filming has been pencilled in for elsewhere in the country."

Fans were speculating that Johnson's new trilogy will cover the events of the Knights of the Old Republic storyline but the filmmaker confirmed that it won't.

Here's what Johnson said about the new trilogy:

"I'm in the very beginning phases of coming up with it so right now the sky is kind of the limit. The appeal of it to me is to do a new story told over three movies, to have that kind of canvas, to be in the Star Wars world and to have the feel of a Star Wars film. Let's tell one story over three movies, where we go to new places and meet new people. It's a brand new story that feels like a great Star Wars story."

After seeing what Johnson did with Star Wars: The Last Jedi, I have mixed feelings about his new trilogy. Part of me is excited to see what fresh stories he could come up with but a larger part of me has lost confidence in Johnson's ability to tell a coherent story.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is now showing in theaters. Solo: A Star Wars Story will be released on May 25.
