Resident Evil Producer Hopes For a More Action-Centric Film Reboot

A few months after releasing Resident Evil: The Final Chapter earlier this year, Constantin Films announced plans to reboot the franchise with Aquaman director James wan as the movie's director and Greg Russo as its screenwriter. However, while fans expect to have the film juggle between horror and action, Resident Evil video game and animated film producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi hopes for a more action-centric reboot.

Speaking in an interview with Collider about Resident Evil: Vendetta as well as the franchise as a whole, Kobayashi openly expressed his hopes to see a reboot focused on action.

"I personally like Paul W.S. Anderson's [direction] on the live-action [films]. Stuff like that, I would like to see more action."

Kobayashi's hopes for the reboot comes in direct opposition with fans' desires to see a film with a tone that leans towards the horror-centric Resident Evil VII: BioHazard. Resident Evil has always been a survival horror videogame franchise, and fans want to see that translated on the big screen.

There's no release date for the reboot just yet, but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
