Ready Player One Gets The Second Biggest Box Office Debut Of 2018

It looks like Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One is winning at the domestic box office.

Not only is the film making it big in China, but Box Office Mojo says that Spielberg's latest movie just earned the second-biggest opening of 2018 so far, taking in $53.2 million during its first four days at the domestic box office.

The film also raked in $41.2 million during the normal three-day weekend and though this doesn't really compare to Black Panther's jaw dropping four-day opening that raked in $242.1 million, Warner Brother's latest tentpole film has become one of 2018's more successful entries.

Sure the film's status is going to sink in comparison when blockbuster movies like Avengers: Infinity War and Solo: A Star Wars Story premieres this year, but Ready Player One's doing good so far. It's definitely going to be interesting seeing how the film continues its theatrical run. Sure, the film might have gotten a Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but not all fans are happy with the film adaptation of Ernest Cline's 2011 science fiction book Ready Player One with some turned off by the Easter egg overload in the film.

Ready Player One is currently screening in cinemas.
