RDJ’s Iron Man To Beat Captain Marvel And Arya Stark As Best Hero Of 2019

The pop culture industry might have a whole lot of great heroes to offer this year, but it looks like Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) might take the Best Hero crown at the MTV Movie and TV Awards.

According to awards prediction and analysis site Gold Derby, Avengers: Endgame star Robert Downey Jr. is expected to win the MTV Movie and TV Award's golden popcorn award for Best Hero this year, beating out favorites like Captain Marvel actress Brie Larson (Carol Danvers) and Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams (Arya Stark).

Larson's Captain Marvel became an easy favorite ever since the character was introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Many expect the photon-firing heroine to lead the Avengers post-Endgame.

Arya Stark, on the other hand, has long since enjoyed a devoted fanbase. Her popularity surged this year after the character managed to save Westeros by using a sneak attack against the Night King in the final season of HBO's Game of Thrones.

However, Iron Man's role in Endgame puts him in the top spot this year. The Avenger sacrificed his life to save the universe from the hands of Thanos (Josh Brolin) in the Avengers: Infinity War sequel and Marvel fans continue to grieve his passing.

Right now Downey's odds come at a 10/3, followed by Larson who's taking 19/5. Williams comes in third with her odds 4/1. Shazam! Star Zachary Levi takes fourth place with 9/2.

The site also predicts Endgame as the Best Movie of 2019 with Spider-Man: Into Spider-Verse coming in second place and Us coming in third.

Avengers: Endgame is currently screening in cinemas.
