Project Resistance Gameplay Trailer Mixes Up Resident Evil with Dead by Daylight

Capcom's upcoming Resident Evil spinoff Project Resistance has got fans talking since they are interested in a multiplayer game set in the franchise's universe. Sadly, we've been burned twice by the company's efforts to bring Resident Evil to multiplayer with bombs like Umbrella Corps and Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. Thankfully, we have the first Project Resistance gameplay trailer and it actually looks promising, at least if you're a multiplayer fan.

Seemingly taking cues from Dead by Daylight and Left 4 Dead, the game has you play as four survivors trying to survive several areas constructed by The Mastermind. As a team, you all have to work together when it comes to getting through rough areas and killing a variety of zombies. It looks a bit similar to the cult classic Resident Evil: Outbreak but with the Resident Evil 4 gameplay engine, which is fine by me.

That's not all. One player can control The Mastermind, who can set traps around the room, dim the lights, lock certain doors, and even possess zombies, which is where the Dead by Daylight comparisons are warranted. Eventually, the player controls the hulking Mister X, who looks really fun to play as and should be in a Marvel vs Capcom game.

Personally, I'm more of a single-player kind of gamer so Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 7 will tide me over. Still, this looks like a great multiplayer experience and should get the interest of many series fans.

No release date for Project Resistance has been revealed but it will be coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
