It's going to be Marvel's 80th anniversary soon so the publisher has been hyping up a number of special one-shots that will be celebrating the occasion. These one-shots have reunited classic creators with the characters they helped make famous, like Chris Claremont and Wolverine or Peter David and Hulk. Well, it looks like they're bringing in another classic comic creator as Image artist Erik Larsen has confirmed that he would be returning to Marvel for a special project.
On Twitter, Larsen revealed that his Marvel project would consist of 41 pages of work, written and drawn by him. Larsen is the writer and artist for Savage Dragon and has done the same for various Marvel comics in the past, including Spider-Man and Nova. Larsen didn't reveal which character he would be working on but we're all hoping it's Spidey since he has done some great work with the superhero.
Larsen had a lengthy Amazing Spider-Man run back in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, though most of that was just his illustrations while writer David Michelinie handled the scripting. However, Larsen did write and draw a short run on the adjective-less Spider-Man comic, where he had Spidey take on the Sinister Six with help from Hulk, Ghost Rider, and other prominent Marvel characters.
More details on Erik Larsen's secret Marvel project will be revealed when they are released.
