Pokémon GO Won't Support Older iPhones and iPads in Next Update

Pokemon GO players with older phones are in for some bad news, as Niantic has announced that the latest update will discontinue support for Apple devices that can't upgrade to iOS 11. This means that players with older phones will have to get new phones if they want to continue playing the game. The move was an expected one, though it's still disappointing to those that have older phones.

Niantic stated that iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c models will not get the update, nor will older models. The update will come on February 28, so fans that want to keep playing will have to upgrade to a higher iPhone model. Once the update hits, players with older phone models won't be able to access their Pokemon GO accounts.

With constant updates that add improvements to the mobile game, a patch like this was going to come out sooner or later. Though fans with the game probably have higher iPhone models, the few that do have outdated models are going to be disappointed with this announcement. Some might be cynical and say that the game isn't as popular as it used to be but that's not what fans want to hear.

Pokemon GO can be downloaded now on iOS and Android.
