Pokemon Sun and Moon Teasers Will Probably Continue Until Launch

In the past couple of months, Pokemon fans have been treated to several new trailers for Pokemon Sun and Moon. From newly released Alolan forms to Z-moves to U-Beasts, it's as if the developer has an endless supply of teasers to last until the eve of launch.

Game Freak's Junichi Masuda and Shigeru Ohmori confirmed in an interview (via Nintendo Everything) that they have a different approach with Pokemon Sun and Moon.

"We've got this change in the style and play of the game, but one thing we're aware of is that previously, you've been able to keep excitement just by saying one or two things about the game and people remain excited."

According to Ohmori, this isn't exactly the case now, since the fast pace of game development can easily make people lose interest. And this can result in the game becoming old news to fans.

"We want to try and keep people interested with this slow, continual release of new information and hopefully, people will still be looking forward to the game by the time it comes out."

This is a pretty standard assumption in almost anything, but especially if it' a big franchise in its particular field. However, the big downside here is that continuous exposure of the brand will make fans look forward to it a lot, which can be a double-edged sword.

Take No Man's Sky for example. A game that doesn't deliver on the hype will create an angry mob with pitchforks mere hours after the game is released. It had tons of hype and promise, until delays and issues brought it down just as fast as fans dubbed the developer as "Goodbye Games."

Another case in point, Suicide Squad's trailers had been unbelievable. The neat soundtrack, the insane characters, and the bad vs. evil appeal all sounded good. What we thought would be the first great DC film became worse than the super face-off fiasco.

Of course, it's also possible that Nintendo and Game Freak are preparing its best title yet. Still, the question of whether or not the innovation that the game has promised will actually deliver in the end.

Pokemon Sun and Moon will be out on the Nintendo 3DS on Nov. 18.
