Pokemon Go Supports Japanese Tourism With Lapras Spawns

Niantic Labs has been very receptive when it comes to bringing some changes and new features to Pokemon Go.

And now, after the Halloween event, it seems that the developer is utilizing the game in more fun ways. Announced via the official Pokemon Go Japan's Twitter account (as translated by Forbes), the developer has revealed that Lapras will spawn in Japan to help with its tourism.

Specifically, there will be spawns of the very rare Pokemon in Iwate, Miyage, and Fukushima Prefectures. All three areas were affected by the 2011 tsunami incident. According to the report, it seems that the goal is to bring back these areas on the map of tourism.

Fans only have until Nov. 23 to get their hands on the Lapras event. For one thing, fans in Japan will surely have a nice incentive to visit these areas. In case you are in Japan, this is a nice detour, because not only will you get a chance to see more of Japan, you'll also get the very rare ‘mon.

More than tourism promotion, it's also possible that Niantic is also trying to give these events a spin. We all know that the Pokemon Go Halloween event was already a success in its own right—which is why I'm one of those hoping for a very grand Christmas event this upcoming holiday season.

If this kind of event becomes successful, it's highly possible that Pokemon Go will see a lot more events that will hopefully invite back its players.
