Pokemon Go Recaptures Players and In-app Purchases

All it needed was a good event to bring it back from the grave.

Pokemon Go has been experiencing some down time in both App Stores, Google Play Store and iTunes, thanks to the lack of real playable gameplay apart from collecting ‘mons.

Now that Niantic Labs has gone the usual route that most mobile games go into—rolling out seasonal updates treated as events—players have started coming back in trickles to bring purchases up a significant notch.

According to VentureBeat, a new report via market intelligence firm Sensor Tower has sighted a rise of the app from falling as far down as the 10th place just last week. And the spike back up the iPhone charts can be traced back to the day that Niantic Labs released its newest Halloween event.

And this rise is not isolated in the iOS charts either. A quick glance at the trending and top apps over at Google Play Store shows that Pokemon Go is in third place in the Top Grossing apps. It's just a few steps below Supercell's top grossing games, Clash of Clans and Clash Royale.

Perhaps what's interesting about this development is the fact that Niantic didn't even add any new events or Pokemon. Just right in the footsteps of other games, the Halloween event is time-limited.

For Pokemon Go, we've seen a very frequent spawning for the spooky Pokemon. And even if Niantic Labs did not announce it, Meowth, Cubone, and Marowak are also common catches for the event.

Are you one of the players who went back to the game for the event? If not, you may want to check it out and help yourselves to evolving and maxing out your Hypnos, Marowaks, Gengars, and even Persians until Nov. 1.
