Pokemon Go Pokedex Lists Gym-Encountered ‘Mons

If you're the kind of Pokemon Go player who keeps tracks of the ‘mons encountered while on the hunt, then you better keep your eyes peeled for those you see in Gyms.

According to Gamerant, part of a new tweak that Niantic Labs rolled out has enabled the Pokedex to record the Pokemon encountered in Gyms to be counted as "Seen." It does follow the original Pokemon's approach to the Pokedex.

This explains why I've been seeing more "discovered" Pokemon in my Pokedex, even though I've never encountered a lot of the more powerful ones in the wild. The fact that Dragonite is already seen in my Pokedex kind of annoys me, seeing as how I've only ever seen and caught one Dratini from that ‘mon family.

I guess this is kind of a good thing, especially for those who have encountered and tried to catch some rare ‘mons only to be disappointed if they had gotten away. I'm still nursing my ego over that Charmander breaking free and zipping away on my first try.

Apart from this change, there are many more planned. We're still waiting for the new mechanic that will put the obtained medals to good use.

Hopefully, Niantic will roll out these tweaks sooner, seeing as how countries in South Africa have recently received the game. Whether or not that rumor about Ditto being region-exclusive remains to be seen. I'm crossing my fingers that it's not.
