Pokemon Go May Get New Update With Evolutionary Items & Moves

Shortly after the holiday event that Niantic Labs has rolled out for Pokemon Go, it seems that the developer has another surprise brewing for players.

Datamined files from The Silph Road have unearthed quite a hefty amount of new finds, starting with two critical ones. The first are 38 new moves added, apart from Ditto's Transform. The 38 moves are divided into either the Quick or Charge moves. There are 15 Quick moves including Dragon Tail, Struggle Bug, Hex, Fire Spin, Bullet Seed, Charge Beam, Powder Snow, and Volt Switch. The rest are charge moves like Close Combat, Zap Cannon, Brave Bird, Sky Attack, and Future Sight.

Next is the hint of Evolution Items, which allow particular Pokemon to evolve when they are exposed to that artefact. The only way to evolve ‘mons in Pokemon Go is via the use of Evolve button and Candies. The introduction of Evolution Items suggests that a new mechanic involving Evolutions will play into the game. There are five Evolution Items seen in the datamined files. These are Sun Stone, Kings Rock, Metal Coat, Dragon Scale, and Upgrade.

More forms have also been spotted. Even though there's no way to tell which species they will be, it does suggest that Niantic is bent on bringing more complex forms for its Pokedex. A shoot-off of this is the findings of Shiny Pokemon and other Pokemon genders.

For some other minor changes, Pokemon Go players can also refresh their avatars' looks. Three other items have been added for customization, namely the belt, glasses, and necklaces.

Niantic may be pairing up these new features with new sponsors. While there have already been promotions and partnerships left and right, three new sponsors were sighted in the code for Pan, BBQ, and Fryer.

It would be nice if Niantic can roll this out together with some more Pokemon. I still open up the app from time to time, but mostly when there are events to do. Either Niantic should be ready to roll out regular events to keep its players interested, or introduce a new mechanic that will let them do a lot more than just roam around in the hopes of catching a new ‘mon.
