Pokemon GO Battle Mechanics and Gym Details Unveiled

The testing for Pokemon GO in the United States has already began, and The Pokemon company and developer Niantic revealed new information about the upcoming mobile game.

The augmented reality game will enable players to search and capture over 100 different Pokemon. Players can use Poke Balls that they can throw to catch Pokemon, and hope that it stays shut. Poke Balls and other "special" items are available at PokeStops —which are found at "interesting" public spots like art installations and historical monuments. Check out the images:

Players can also engage in gym battles as part of one of the three teams. Gyms, like PokeStops, are found in real-world locations. Gyms are up for grabs as well, and players can use their captured Pokemon to battle with other Poekmon assigned to other gyms, and have the opportunity to claim it for their own once the gym's prestige level reaches zero. The claimant must then assign their own creature to the gym and battle others to regain its prestige.

Players can interact in Pokemon GO with an in-game trainer avatar, and the game offers various customization options.

Pokemon GO will be available for free on Android and iOS devices when it launches in 2016. No release date has been announced yet. You can read more details about the game here.
