Playing Pokemon Go is always an experience, whether it's good or bad. Recently, a study has already proven that the game has benefits in the physical sense.
One other interest is in how it will do as a game that uses smart wearable technology. And that's something even the developers have been exploring. Niantic CEO John Hanke revealed in an interview with Wired Germany (via WWG) that their vision of Pokemon Go using smart glasses would merge the current experience of capturing ‘mons while removing the obstacle of focusing solely on phones.
While this is an entire beast of a project to work on, the developer did hint that it's a feat that the company will go for if there is an actual sizable market that will make use of it.
There's a lot of possibilities in the use of immersive smart devices for Pokemon Go. From the point of view of avid fans, this is certainly a dream come true. Imagine seeing your favorite Pokemon right in front of you and doing battle with it—without the unseen danger of being hit by a car. Even real-life objects will be seen (ideally, at least), so you can play wisely and safely while delivering a new experience.
Of course, there's the hurdle of VR technology and immersive AR still in its infancy. Even smart glasses used for technology alone has its own red flags in the meantime. But it's good to know that Niantic is still open about the idea, because who wouldn't want to catch a Pokemon in semi-real life?
