Patty Jenkins Officially Onboard For The Wonder Woman Sequel; Script Underway

Well, this isn't really a surprise, is it? After the massive success of Wonder Woman, Patty Jenkins has officially signed on as director for the sequel.

WB President Toby Emmerich confirms this in an interview with Variety, and he discloses that the Wonder Woman sequel will take place "somewhere between 1917 and 2017."

DC Entertainment head Geoff Johns has also confirmed that he and Jenkins have already started working on the script, and they will try to bring Diana to a setting that's different from World War I. He says:

"Patty and I are writing the treatment right now. The goal is to make another great Wonder Woman film. I had a blast making it with Patty the first time. We've got a cool idea for the second one."

Jenkins had teased that she wants Diana to come to America this time, and it's also entirely possible that this will be another period piece. Seeing that Saïd Taghmaoui had teased that his character Sameer could be a member of the Blackhawk Squadron, it's possible that WW2 could take us to World War II.

Personally I want to see Diana during the Cold War era at the height of spies and espionage. Or maybe the movie could span multiple eras, just to watch how Diana grows with the modern world.

It's just an idea.

Wonder Woman is currently in theaters.

Justice League will be released on November 17, 2017; Aquaman on July 27, 2018; Shazam on April 5, 2019; Justice League 2 on June 14, 2019; Cyborg on April 3, 2020; and Green Lantern Corps on July 24, 2020.
