Patrick Stewart Would Stay as Professor X If He Could Play With This Brassy Mutant

Though of X-Men fans have focused on the fact that Logan marks the final film of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine after waving around adamantium claws for about 17 years, the gritty, genre-bending superhero film also marks Patrick Stewarts last run as Professor X. The English actor has been playing the role of the X-Men's headmaster as long as Jackman, and though he initially hesitated giving away the X Mansion's keys to another star, Stewart has confirmed his intentions to retire from the franchise.

However, it seems like Ryan Reynold's Deadpool has begun to change his mind. The Merc with a Mouth certainly has some charm, because in a live Facebook interview with MTV yesterday, the legendary Star Trek and X-Men star revealed that he just might hold off on his retirement because of Deadpool.

When asked about putting away his wheelchair and giving up his role as Charles Xavier, this is Stewart's response:

"I would have said yes, but the discussion just now about Deadpool makes me think, well, maybe there is a proper justification for the revival of Charles Xavier."

The sound of a movie with Professor X and Deadpool sounds kind of exciting. Imagine the rambunctious Merc with a Mouth trying to sass off the X-Men's greatest mind on the big screen? Though it's a strange mix, considering Deadpool's brassiness and Xavier's cool, collected nature, it would definitely be fun to have a film with Deadpool and Professor X together.

Logan is currently screening in theaters.
