Overwatch Reveals New Hero Baptiste

Earlier this week, Blizzard had teased their 30th hero coming to Overwatch, and now they've given us an origin video for Baptiste, the first official offense/healer hybrid.

Check him out:

Mobilize alongside the combat medic who made the shrewd decision to make the world a better place, one bandage... or bullet at a time: Baptiste.

While the lore has a lot of characters who have quit Overwatch to join Talon, this will be the first character we have that actually started out working for the bad guys only to betray them and work for the good.

We don't have a full breakdown of Baptiste's skills yet, but based on what we hear, he's going to be DPS who is also an effective healer. Before Baptiste comes around, the closest hero we have that matches the healer/DPS description is Sombra. I guess some people have also been counting Moira as DPS, counting as she's such an effective fighter as well as healer.

No release date has been announced for Baptiste as of now, but it's likely that he could arrive sometime in March or June. I doubt Blizzard will make us wait all the way until July to get to use him. By that time they'd probably be teasing someone else entirely new.

Though I'm all up for new characters, I think a lot of fans want a new game mode to come to Overwatch soon. It's not enough to tease us with new skins and repeating seasonal events. Hopefully 2019 will bring something more exciting.

Overwatch is currently playable for Xbox One, PC, and PS4.
