Overwatch continues to be one of the most popular multiplayer shooters out there and many fans are really looking forward to Overwatch 2, which will finally feature heavily-requested modes like a Story Mode. Weirdly enough, despite the fact that this game only has players shoot each other, it actually has some interesting lore that is often explored in the comics and animated shorts that Blizzard has released. This is why many were shocked when Michael Chu announced that he would be leaving Blizzard.

Chu made the big announcement on Twitter, saying that he will continue telling stories. The man also linked to a longer farewell to the company so if you want to read his full thoughts, check it out here. He has a lot of nice things to say about his time in Blizzard and the diverse number of heroes in their games, including Overwatch.

If you enjoyed any of the comics or movies from the game then you have Chu to thank for that since he worked extensively to make sure they would be entertaining for fans and those who were just curious about the characters. You can check out what he had to say about the game in the link above.

Overwatch has been a life-changing experience. I have always felt that games and the stories they tell have the unique ability to bring people closer together and that the empathy you feel from stepping into someone else's shoes, even virtually, can bridge the gap between miles, cultures, and nations. Overwatch and its consistently generous and inspiring community have only reinforced that belief.

Here's hoping that Activision has a good replacement planned. While Overwatch will never have a good in-game story, the sequel is looking to change that and we can't wait to see these great characters interact with each other during gameplay. What a concept.

No release date for Overwatch 2 has been revealed.
