Only Three Decepticons will Appear in the Bumblebee Movie

Though Michael Bay may have bowed out of the Transformers franchise with The Last Knight, Kubo and the Two Strings director Travis Knight has been chosen to helm the upcoming spinoff prequel focused on everyone's favorite yellow Autobot. As it turns out, Bee isn't only going against Starscream in the film.

As per producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, the film will feature two more Decepticons. He told Entertainment Weekly:

"[Christina Hodson] wrote a really beautiful script that really played into the emotion of the relationship of the two. So looking at the movie from that perspective, we thought, we don't want to overwhelm one Autobot with too many Decepticons. So he has three primary antagonists."

With Bay having his own iterations of the Transformers, this film looks to be more faithful to the original animated series. Bumblebee will be a Volkswagen Beetle like in the series, and Starscream looks to be more faithful to his animated jet look.

Besides the Decepticons, it has also been said that Optimus Prime will be making a cameo in this film. We don't know to what extent he'll be in the movie, but I'm hoping that they give him a redesign close to that of Bumblebee's in this film.

Bumblebee is set to come out Dec. 21.
