One-Punch Man Illustrator's Answer to Who Would Win Between Goku and Saitama

One of the biggest anime debates among Dragon Ball and One-Piece fans is Saitama vs. Goku. While I think it's unfair to compare any anime fighter to Saitama since he's so overpowered to parody shonen heroes, it's still interesting to imagine how the fight would turn out, and it seems fans have been split on who would emerge as the victor if they were to battle.

Now, Yusuke Murata, the illustrator of One-Punch Man, has commented on the fantasy debate, and a Redditor translated the live-stream Murata did recently. On whether Saitama could defeat Goku in a fight, here's Murata's response:

"I don't know."

Since Murata is a Dragon Ball fan, his answer isn't surprising. According to the Redditor's notes, the artist answered the question seriously.

I don't think the fans would get an absolute answer to this debate unless the creators of the two anime franchises would actually make the fight officially happen. The power levels in each world are different, and Goku is clearly way more powerful than Saitama's enemies. Regardless, Saitama is an overpowered character that sometimes make Goku's efforts look useless. And besides, I don't think they'll have a valid reason to fight. They're both powerful heroes with a heart to protect humanity.
