There is little doubt that One Piece Odyssey is the most exciting thing to look forward to for the franchise's 25th anniversary. Although the JRPG video game was only announced in March, it is already expected to drop later this year. So it's no surprise that Bandai Namco has dropped a new trailer for the title during Summer Game Fest and it reveals how Thousand Sunny is destroyed!

The new One Piece Odyssey trailer was shared during Summer Game Fest and it opens with the Straw Hats crew on a journey along the Grand Line when they spot an island. Monkey D. Luffy notices that it has several towers and that there is a light reaching out to the sky from the island so he is eager to explore. However, Nami quickly points out that clouds are gathering above the island, hinting at a huge storm.

Suddenly, Sunny is swept up by the Knock Up Stream, throwing the ship high into the air and causing it to plummet down to the island. Although the crew try their best to prevent any damage, it looks like Sunny can't be saved from the effects of gravity.

The trailer features more cinematic footage but we don't see a lot of the gameplay just yet. Hopefully, we'll finally get a gameplay trailer for One Piece Odyssey soon.

The official description for One Piece Odyssey reads as follows:

"The crew sets out on a new adventurous journey filled with wonders of a raging nature, powerful enemies, and strange encounters with island locals. Work together with Luffy and his crew to set sail once again!"

One Piece Odyssey will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox, and PC. The title has not yet been given an official release date but will be dropped later in 2022.
