Ahead of the game’s release this January, Bandai Namco released a new trailer for the upcoming game One Piece Odyssey, highlighting the Straw Hat Crew’s return to Water Seven.
This new trailer was shared via the official Bandai Namco YouTube channel, and it shows not only the Straw Hats but also other familiar faces from the Water Seven Arc.
One Piece Odyssey Gameplay
In case you missed its announcement, One Piece Odyssey is an upcoming One Piece game, and it’s a JRPG with a turn-based combat system.
Players will be able to control the Straw Hat Pirates, including Luffy, Zoro, and the rest of the crew in the game.
For its combat, the game is unique compared to other JRPG titles as it lets players optimize the position of the party members, adding depth to combat encounters.
The game also features a random element called the Dramatic Scene where certain party members can fall into difficult situations that are very much in character.
For instance, Sanji may find himself unable to attack when surrounded by women.
Similar to other titles, Odyssey will not be part of the official One Piece canon.
Regardless, One Piece fans are still in for a treat as series creator Eiichiro Oda created the designs for the new characters and monsters.
On top of this, the game will let players experience some of the iconic islands in the series, including Water Seven.

One Piece Odyssey Water Seven Trailer
Odyssey is set around the time of the Whole Cake Island Saga, and it takes place on a new island called Waford.
There are times when the Straw Hat Crew will find themselves on past islands that they visited, though the game won’t see them returning to these islands physically.
Instead, these islands are memories of the Straw Hat Crew’s adventures that players will get to re-experience, albeit in their post-time skip forms.

As you can see, the trailer features several returning characters from the Water Seven Saga, including Rob Lucci, Iceberg, and others.
One Piece Odyssey will be released on January 13, 2023, for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
