Star Wars isn't conquering just the film industry anymore. The franchise has gained another victory, this time in the digital media spectrum with the official Star Wars app.
The People's Voice Webby Awards gave the official Star Wars app the trophy for best in the Entertainment in the Mobile Sites & Apps category.
The Webbys is the "leading international award honoring excellence on the internet." It acknowledges top internet and mobile content. Winners of the People's Voice Award are chosen via public polling while Webby Award winners are chosen by members of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences.
The official Star Wars app becoming voters' pick for Best in Entertainment doesn't really come as a surprise since the franchise is among the most popular in the entire planet. However, it's still an accomplishment to be proud of. It just goes to show how much effort Disney-Lucasfilm has taken to ensure quality entertainment in every Star Wars product.
The official Star Wars app includes great features such as a selfie camera that turns anyone into a Jedi or a Sith, Star Wars-themed emojiis and GIFs, weather function that compares local weather with that of the weather of planets in the Star Wars galaxy, and news feed.
Obviously, with these many amazing features, the app deserves that award.
