Obi-Wan Kenobi Standalone Film Rumored To Be Announced at Star Wars Celebration

Many fans have been hoping to see Ewan McGregor reprise his Star Wars prequel trilogy role as Obi-Wan Kenobi, and it looks like the long-rumored film will finally get the greenlight. According to Star Wars News Net, the Obi-Wan Kenobi standalone film starring Ewan McGregor could be announced in this year's Star Wars Celebration at Orlando.

Since Disney might not "be done with him" in the Skywalker Saga films, it's rumored that Obi-Wan won't get a solo film until after the release of Episode IX.

The site claims that Rogue One director, who has expressed an interest in making the film, is in talks to direct it with a new group of producers and writers than the ones he worked with on Rogue One.

The standalone Obi-Wan film would purportedly be set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. According to the site's source, there were materials "produced in conjunction" with Celebration that suggest that this standalone film could be announced.

Ewan McGregor has recently expressed his interest to reprise the role.
