No Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer At D23; J.J. Abrams Reveals When It Will Be Released

Sad news for Star Wars fans: It looks like there won't be any new Star Wars: The Force Awakens footage or trailer at D23 Expo this weekend.

The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams has confirmed that Lucasfilm won't release a new trailer or footage of any sort at the Disney convention in Anaheim.

"It is true, we are showing no footage, behind the scenes or otherwise," Abrams told Entertainment Weekly. "In the fall, there'll be a trailer."

Abrams assured that he's still looking forward to discussing progress on his upcoming Star Wars installment and interacting with fans.

"We're thrilled to go to D23 and meet the fans, but it's a tricky thing to try and rush [footage] for a convention or preexisting event that would, of course, be fun to show something at," Abrams said.

Abrams revealed that the movie is taking shape: "I'm still editing and we're working on refining the cut, but it's incredibly fun to see the movie come together," he said. "You realize certain things that you don't need, certain things you can pull out."

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be released in theaters on December 18.
