Nina Dobrev in Talks to Join Cast of Sony’s Flatliners Reboot

Nina Dobrev is looking to leave the mystical world of vampires and werewolves and join humans once again with Sony's remake of the 1990 sci-fi thriller, Flatliners.

Flatliners follows the story of a Chicago medical student who persuades his friends to join him in conducting near-death experiments in search for life's meaning. Each try becomes more dangerous and the group has to face the consequence of going on to the other side and never coming back.

According to Deadline, the Sony reboot will feature Dobrev as overachiever Marlo. She joins Ellen Page and Diego Luna in the cast.

Niels Arden Oplev (The Girl With the Dragon TattooSwedish film series), will direct the film with a script penned by Ben Ripley (Source Code).

It looks like Dobrev is working her way out of TV and into the movie industry. Her film repertoire includes The Final Girls, Let's Be Cops, and Perks of Being a Wallflower. The Bulgarian Canadian actress will also star in the upcoming xXx: The Return of Xander Cage.

The 1990s original movie, which grossed $61 million at the domestic box office, got mixed reviews. With a talented cast and crew, the new Flatliners could very well be a box-office hit.
