Nicolas Cage Thinks He Would Make A “Great Joker”

It might have been a while since Nicolas Cage's gotten to play a comic book character on the big screen, but the Ghost Rider star thinks that he'd actually be able to play a great joker for DC.

Making the rounds for his new dystopian action sci-fi thriller The Humanity Bureau, the former Academy Award-winning actor spoke with JoBlo about his experience working on comic book movies. During his interview with the publication, Cage was asked whether there were still any comic book characters that he'd like to play.

Though Cage says that he's no longer in the comic book movie scene, he thinks that he'd make a good villain for both Marvel and DC.

"I mean, I think my comic book days are kind of…I'm on to other things, but I always thought I'd make a great Joker and I always thought that I would've been a good villain in one of the Marvel [movies] like Doctor Doom. But, Doctor Doom you have to wear that mask, but I thought the story leading up to Doctor Doom could've been interesting. At this point, if I was to go back into the format it would probably have to be as a villain."

It'd definitely be interesting to see Cage making a comic book movie comeback. Sure, the actor's Ghost Rider movies might not have turned out so well, but Cage is a well-known comic book fan and the actor's had a long, long history with the comic book genre. It might be worth giving him the shot to at becoming the DCEU's Joker – well, that is if Warner Brothers decides to get rid of Jared Leto.

Cage's film, Humanity Bureau, hits cinemas September 1.
