Niantic Settles Pokémon GO Fest Lawsuit

Last year's Pokemon GO Fest was supposed to be the best thing that ever happened to the mobile game. While Niantic has learned a number of things from the event, it ended up being something of a failure and has left many fans bitter about the experience. Some fans have even filed a lawsuit over the event, due to the fact that some of them traveled all the way from farther places.

TechCrunch has confirmed that Niantic is settling the lawsuit. Though the company did offer tickets refunds and $100 worth of in-game currency, they will be doing more for those that rented hotel rooms, cars, and even airplanes to get to the event.

According to the report, a special website should be open on May 25 for those that want to get additional reimbursements. There are a few catches to make sure that the reimbursed fans were actually in the event and not those who sold their tickets to others. Fans who are claiming to have spent more than $107 will need receipts.

If there is any money left after, it will go to the non-profit organization Chicago Run and the Illinois Bar Foundation. Niantic is making sure that none of the money stays with the company, which is quite admirable.

Pokemon GO can be downloaded now on iOS and Android.
