New Yorker Arrested After Dumping Popcorn And Bruising A Child During A Star Wars Screening

It looks like a New York woman was arrested last week for verbally and physically assaulting a two-year-old child and her mother during a screening of Star Wars: The Last Jedi at an AMC movie theater in Long Island.

According to The New York Post, twenty-five-year-old Keri Karman was arrested last Friday after she dumped a bucket of popcorn over the head of Celia Rigg's young daughter. The 2-year-old girl who was sitting next to her simply asked for some popcorn but was met with a harsh rebuke from Karma who told the girl to be quiet.

When Riggs responded by telling Karman "not to talk to her daughter," the Star Wars viewer started cursing and gesturing obscenely at the mother and child. She then dumped a bucket of popcorn over the child's head, bruising the young girl with the hard paper tub end of the popcorn box. The child began to sob, and so Karman and her father decided to leave the cinema through the fire exit.

Riggs called the police right after.

"I just wanted to get my daughter out to safety," Riggs said. "I ran out with her. She was crying a lot."

The report also suggests that Karman's father had the same tendency for violent outbursts, saying that Charles Karman also lashed out while arguing over a seat during the Star Wars screening.

Police were called to the scene right after and Karman and her father were charged with endangering the welfare of a child. What a way to spoil a Star Wars viewing for a young fan, really.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is getting its Digital HD release on March 13 and its Blu-Ray and DVD release on March 27.
