X-Men: Apocalypse not only sees a younger generation of X-Men brought into the fold, but the movie introduces the new X-Men cast at a time when they are still discovering their mutant powers.
In a new clip from X-Men: Apocalypse released during Monday’s Global Fan Screening by 20th Century Fox, we see new footage of Cyclops/Scott Sommers (Tye Sheridan) still discovering his awesome optic blast skill while in high school.
In the clip, Scott is taught about the history of mutants by his teacher, played by Ally Sheedy (The Breakfast Club). Sheedy’s character talks to her students about the details of Magneto’s attack on the White House in Days of Future Past. As interesting as the topic might have sounded for Scott, he can’t concentrate because of something “wrong with his eyes.” He’s even threatened by his classmate who thinks he’s winking at “his girl.
Of course, nothing’s really wrong with Scott’s eyes. He discovers this after he excuses himself from the class and goes into the male restroom.
Check out the awesome clip below:
While his powers may seem unfortunate for his classmate, it wouldn’t be once he faces off against Apocalypse and his Four Horsemen.
The clip certainly looks exciting and I expect more awesome sequences when X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters this month.
The movie is slated for release in the U.S. on May 27.
