Warning: This article contains spoilers for Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi certainly left fans surprised. The Force Awakens left everyone with a lot of questions. Who exactly are Rey's (Daisy Ridley) parents, and what does it mean for the Skywalker legacy? Who is Snoke and why is he shrouded in so much mystery? Why did Luke hide away in Ahch-To?

Lucasfilm's very first Star Wars sequel trilogy installment brought a wake of Snoke theories and Rey theories, all of which were done away with by The Last Jedi. Could Rey be Obi-Wan's daughter? No, she's a nobody. Could Snoke be Palpatine? No, he's dead.

Now, a new video by Star Wars Theory tries to rekindle the fanbase's spirits by positing that Snoke might actually be still alive and well. Sure Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) might have sliced the Supreme Leader in half in The Last Jedi, however, tie-in Materials for the sequel trilogy suggest that Snoke is the master of manipulation.

Descriptions of Snoke say the Supreme Leader's powers to "persuade, manipulate, and perceive" are tremendous. Even at a distance, tie-in materials say that he can disguise his true nature.

If such is the case, the team at Star Wars Theory says it's also possible that Snoke manipulated Rey's perception of his death, fully bringing the leader of the Knights of Ren into the Dark Side.

It's a very interesting theory – though it's quite likely that Snoke might also remain dead throughout Episode IX.
