It's theory time once again, and a new fan theory is trying to shed some light on Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Supreme Leader Snoke's true identity.
While some theories have focused on Snoke being an already known character from the Dark Side like Darth Vader or Darth Plagueis, this new theory from Movie Pilot is based upon actor Andy Serkis' claim that Snoke is an entirely new character in the Star Wars universe and that he could be a different being altogether – neither Sith nor Jedi.
Being a completely different character means the possibility of Snoke being any creature at all.
First, let's lay down the facts:
> Snoke is the leader of the Knights of Ren, a group of followers of the Dark Side.
> Snoke is the Supreme Leader of the First Order, which is the galaxy's neo-Empire.
> Each time the Resistance would talk about the Supreme Leader, there's always the mention of him "manipulating" Kylo Ren. Han Solo mentioned his son being used by Snoke.
Knowing these, the theory then goes on to postulate that Snoke didn't in fact take Ben Solo under his wing and turned him into Kylo Ren. What he did is "manipulate" Ren into believing that he could be Darth Vader's successor.
It would also be safe to assume that his massive size in Star Wars: The Force Awakens isn't his actual size, even though several theories have pushed the humongous size to be his actual size.
Now for the juicy part. If Snoke is an all-powerful wielder of the Force, the he wouldn't need to Kylo Ren to be doing all his chores for him. The only explanation that the thoery could see is that Snoke can't actually use the Force.
The proof? The theory explains that there's no actual proof seen yet where Snoke used the Force. It also appears that Snoke distance himself from the Knights of Ren and the First Order.
The theory goes on to explain that he was able to teach Kylo Ren the secrets of the Dark Side because one doesn't need to be able to wield the Force in order to teach it.
As for his knowledge about Rey's awakening, it could be because the Supreme Leader has eyes and ears everywhere in the Galaxy, including a spy in Maz's castle and the Galactic pirates that Han Solo encountered (if you look TFA closely). Snoke saying he "felt" the Awakening could have meant his spies had told him what was going on before Kylo Ren ever told him.
If all of this is true, then Anakin Skywalker had technically fulfilled his destiny of bringing balance to the Force. Snoke saw this and thus he created his own army of Force wielders to balance the Force more on his Dark end, including the creation of Kylo Ren.
This theory certainly sounds plausible, but seeing as the new Star Wars series has only begun, there's still plenty of time for Snoke to use his Force powers in Episodes VIII and IX. In addition, Siths usually come in two, which explains why Snoke chose Ben Solo to be his counterpart.
Do you think this theory is possible?
Star Wars: Episode VIII will be released December 15, 2017. Meanwhile, Star Wars: Rogue One debuts in theaters on December 14.
