Facebook has teamed up with companies like Discovery, Disney, and NBC to make new 360 degree video experiences. Star Wars: The Force Awakens got one of the first of these interactive videos, with a ride on a speeder through the desert landscape of Jakku, the newly-introduced planet in The Force Awakens where Rey (Daisy Ridley) resides in the film.
Speed across the Jakku desert from Star Wars: The Force Awakens with this immersive 360 experience created exclusively for Facebook.
Fans can click and drag around the video to rotate the perspective, controlling the camera as the speeder races through the ruins of the Battle of Jakku, a crucial moment in the war against the Empire that took place shortly after the Battle of Endor, and will be shown for the first time in Star Wars Battlefront video game. In this video, you can see the fallen Star Destroyer that was first shown in The Force Awakens trailer. There's also a bunch of other wreckage from the battle. Lucasfilm also confirmed that this is Rey's signature speeder you're riding.
