New Star Wars Comedy Film Focuses on Hardcore Fans

A long line always follows a Star Wars movie premiere, and to commemorate the inevitable line for Star Wars: The Last Jedi and the enduring spirit of fans, Disney promises to deliver a new Star Wars comedy film focused solely on the franchise's hardcore fans.

Titled The Line of Kings, Variety reports that the new Star Wars fan-focused film will feature the story of a group of fans who camp out for four days at the Hollywood Boulevard outside the Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles after Disney makes an announcement that those who get first in line would be able to nab a role in the very next Star Wars installment. The film will focus on the resulting battle between two Star Wars fan groups that are both deadest on being first to win the golden prize.

Written and produced by Steven Rubin and Billy Riback, The Line of Kings is going to be directed by Babylon 5 and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's Tony Dow and is going to start production in spring. While it won't be as big of a deal as Star Wars: The Last Jedi, it's great to see Disney and Lucasfilm honoring the followers of George Lucas' epic space opera movies with their very own film. The Star Wars franchise has a large following, and fans are fiercely loyal and protective of the fandom.
