New Sherlock Season 4 Trailer Suggests A Dark Thrill Coming

The Sherlock season 4 teaser trailer is just a minute and a half short, but the buildup towards 2017 has never been any bigger.

“Something’s coming. Maybe it’s Moriarty. Maybe it’s not. Something’s coming.”

The fact that Holmes repeated it twice means it’s a big thing, whatever it is that’s coming. The entire video has a very dark aura about it. Interspersing that with some action scenes, explosions, and very tense close-ups makes it feel very much like a thriller—and very much not a game anymore.

Holmes is also informed that the demons accompanying the roads he walks may have been waiting for him for a long time.

Judging from Holmes’ rather shocked face, it seems that he may be staring at the face of terror himself.

From the looks of it, Sherlock season 4 will be the darkest to date. Interestingly, showrunners showrunners Mark Gratis and Steven Moffat did state a big glimmer of hope at the SDCC 2016: season 4 may not be the end for Sherlock yet.

Moffat and Gratis did not say definitively that season 4 will be the last, but did not give any hints that a season 5 is underway, Deadline reported. Considering that season 4 is still just pegged for a 2017 release, this makes sense.

The trailer can be seen below. Excited? Super excited? Check it out and tell us your thoughts.
