New Pokemon GO Details Unveiled

Pokemon GO, the upcoming augmented-reality game for mobile phones, will be released soon, and although no release date has been announced yet, Nintendo confirmed that a closed beta test is about to start in Japan. The company also shared some details on how players will play the highly anticipated game set in the real world.

On Pokemon's website, it was revealed that Pokemon GO will allow trainers to catch Pokemon as they travel through their own town. While players will initially only have access to "basic" Pokemon, trainers can level up by catching Pokemon and dueling, which could help players get better equipment (such as better Poke Balls) and access to more Pokemon. Certain types of Pokemon, such as Grass or Water types, will only appear on certain georgaphic locations to motivate players to explore various environments.

Players can find Poke Eggs and re-stock on supplies like Poke Balls as special "Poke Stops" set up at special points of interest (like public pieces of art or monuments). Players can also evolve their Pokemon after catching the same type of Pokemon multiple types.

According to Nintendo, the Pokemon GO Plus device will let fans play the game even when the app isn't in active use. The Pokemon GO Plus is used to connect to your phone via Bluetooth and could alert trainers when a Pokemon is close so they can catch it using a button on the device.

The game will divide players into three teams who will fight for control of the gyms placed throughout cities. Teams are encouraged to work together to create a strong defense against rival teams who may arrive to try to take over the base. That sounds like a fun and adventurous interactive experience.

Pokemon GO will have unspecified in-app purchase options, but the game itself is free to download and play. You can watch the leaked video that shows a glimpse of Pokemon GO here.
