New Mortal Kombat 11 Launch Trailer Borrows Something from the 90s

One big thing surrounding Mortal Kombat 11's plot is time travel, and the story is going to have characters facing off with past versions of themselves. The game is set to come out next week, and the launch trailer brings some serious nostalgia to anyone who grew up with MK in the 90s.

This time around, the main villain of the game will be a woman named Kronika, who is said to be the Keeper of Time and the Architect of the Destiny of the Universe. Her mission is actually pretty noble, as she attempts to balance the forces of good and evil after Raiden causes an imbalance due to some new policy when it comes to taking care of the threats for Earthrealm. We don't have any idea how she fights yet, and I have a feeling she won't be a playable character on launch.

Besides that, the trailer also gives us a look at some characters we haven't seen before. After all the reveals for the game, this seems to be our first look at the returning cyborgs like Sektor and Cyrax. We don't really know if they're playable yet since it's possible their appearance could only be for the story. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if they end up being DLC in the future.

As of now, the only confirmed DLC character for MK 11 is Shang Tsung. Hopefully, we get an idea on who else is coming once the game is officially out.

Catch Mortal Kombat 11 when it becomes available for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch on April 23.
