As part of the Magic: The Gathering Commander celebration at MagicFest Las Vegas this August, participants will be able to get a new promo "Sol Ring" card featuring the new art by Mark Tedin, and today MTG Senior Designer Gavin Verhey revealed a never-before-seen sketch by the artist as well as the art description they sent to Tedin, the artist of the original "Sol Ring" art.
Here's the art description that Wizards of the Coast sent to Tedin:
Color: None (artifact) Location: Not important Action: We'd like a dynamic glamor shot of this artifact; it's a series of rings that hover above an ornate pedestal. A glowing white and/or silver orb burns in the center of the rings, sort of like a caged, miniature sun. Perhaps a series of metal rings rotate around the orb on differing axis, all working to magically contain the energy within. We'd love a callback to your original piece, so maybe a ring of fire rotates around it as well, but the fire should be secondary to the central glowing white-hot orb. Focus: The artifact Mood: An object of great mystery and power
Tedin made this sketch that Wizards of the Coast revealed today:

The new "Sol Ring" promo will be available in foil and non-foil on MagicFest Las Vegas.
Verhey previously said that MagicFest Las Vegas won't be the only place this promo will be available - just the first place. They will also be available in other Commander events at MagicFests in 2019, as well as some other places next year.
MagicFest Las Vegas 2019 will happen on August 22-25 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The prize pool is $65,000, and the two main events are Modern and Limited (Modern Horizons).
