New Live-Action Tokyo Ghoul Trailer Captures The Spirit of The Anime

In recent years, we've been seeing more live-action adaptations of popular Japanese manga and anime, and Tokyo Ghoul is one of the latest that's set to be released this year.

Based on Sui Ishida's 2011 manga series, Tokyo Ghoul is set in an alternate world where ghouls, who can only survive by eating human flesh, exist. The story follows Ken Kaneki, who transforms into a half-ghoul after being bitten by a deadly ghoul whom he dated.

The anime series currently has two seasons. Watch the trailer below:

The 30-second debut teaser shows familiar characters who resemble their manga counterparts. It seems that this live-action film will just cover the story of the anime's first season. We get to see Kaneki and his wicked ghoul mask.

Tokyo Ghoul will be released in Japan on July 29.
