New Lego Netflix Show Is Less Like Ninjago And More Like Avatar: The Last Airbender

Fans expecting the upcoming Lego Elves Netflix show to follow an animation style similar to Lego Ninjago are in for a shock. The trailer for the upcoming animated series has dropped, and evokes an animation style very similar to Avatar: The Last Airbender. Judging from the trailer, it looks like the show will be easy on the eyes and should garner interest from fans.

Titled Lego Elves: Secrets of Elvendale, the show acknowledges the Avatar comparison by parodying it in the intro of the video below. Fans might appreciate that self-aware reference, and give the show a shot when it debuts this September on the popular streaming service. The Voltron reboot also used an animation style similar to Avatar, and it was praised for it.

Anyone familiar with these Lego sets know that they are not typical brick builders. Rather than blocky lego minifigures, these toys are small plastic dolls with their own storyline. The Lego Elves brand has had a few straight-to-DVD films, but the Netflix series looks to be a huge step up in quality.

Secrets of Elvendale will follow human character Emily Jones, who seems to have been aware of the secret city for sometime. Her younger sister Sophie goes in with her accidentally, and gets herself acquainted with the realm's various characters before being captured by the Goblin King. For those wondering, no he does not look like the late-great David Bowie from Labyrinth. Fans will be able to check out Lego Elves: Secrets of Elvendale in Netflix on September 1.
