New LEGO Batman Movie Trailer Shows a Lonely Caped Crusader

If you’re still not down from the high of superhero blockbuster Doctor Strange, then here’s a nice trailer that will get you through the weekend.

Granted, it’s on the other side of the cinematic universe, but it’s a far amusing and lighter take on the Dark Knight’s adventures. A new trailer has been released for The LEGO Batman Movie.

While it’s already the fourth trailer, there’s still the running joke of the Caped Crusader who’s more of a loner than a lone wolf (yeah, there’s a difference). But we see that he’s not without his allies, if you can call it that. We see Alfred trying to take a half-jab joke (similar to Jeremy Irons lovely portrayal, if I might add) and Robin doing some odd antics.

But not even the latter’s pants-ripping can get that gruff Batman growl lighten up. Or maybe that’s the point. At the end of the trailer though, we see them running in a team-effort Batman family-style formation, one that not even Robin’s pants-ripping gesture can ruin.

We see hints of the Superman vs. Batman rivalry so very reminiscent of the DC film. But I forgive this one, because the face-off becomes the butt of the joke, and I think it’s just apt. There’s also a scene with the Joker, whom Batman denies the pleasure of being called his “greatest enemy”—even though as the Clown Prince of Crime has pointed out, “Superman’s not a bad guy.”

The LEGO Batman Movie is directed by Chris McKay and features the voices of Will Arnett, Zach Galifianakis, Rosario Dawson, Ralph Fiennes, and Michael Cera. It arrives in theaters on Feb. 10, 2017.
