New Details Emerge for Spider-Man Homecoming Vulture's Origin and Actor

Michael Keaton has been rumored to take on the role of Vulture in the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming. And while an actual confirmation is yet to be officially announced, several clues already point to Keaton's role in the movie.

In an interview (via Comicbook Movie), Keaton revealed that he had almost passed on the movie entirely. While he has had his share of the superhero persona, he revealed that he is not one to be reluctant to go back to playing good (or maybe this time, bad):

"I think it's going to be cool and I'm really looking forward to it. Tom Holland is a wonderful actor and, I've got to say, from the early conversations I've had with Marvel, they're really serious about how the approach their stuff."

He seems to be talking about the approach of putting Holland as the younger high schooler version of Peter Parker, as first seen in Captain America: Civil War II.

The high school part may be the focal point of Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige when they decided to include Spider-Man in the reboot. And if there will be sequels following Spider-Man: Homecoming, it would most likely follow the kind of story and struggles that a lot of fans can relate to: that of Harry Potter.

Peter Parker all decked for prom—if he's more geek than cool compared to Andrew Garfield's or more unique than emo compared to Tobey Maguire's takes on the character, that's definitely a nicer touch.

The key here is to make him lovable and a-dork-able—but not too much that you lose sight of the Peter Parker angst that should still be there. He did have an uncle die on him.

It was also revealed that Vulture had been the choice for villain since he hasn't been seen by the audience in any of the Spider-Man films. I'm more interesting in the fact that he'll be played by none other than Michael Keaton. Is this another case of Human Torch scenario? Though it's not like I'll regret his Batman appearances ever.

What's more, we'll see something more of a machine-monster than just plain monster for Vulture. Perhaps he'll be a perfect match for Falcon in future fight scenes.

Spider-Man Homecoming will air in theaters on July 7, 2017.
