New Details About Rogue One's 'Space Monkey'

This past weekend's Star Wars Celebration Europe was full of big surprises, but sometimes it's the little things that will leave fans wondering more. An example of this would be the short and furry alien that showed up in the recent behind-the-scenes featurette for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story that was revealed at the event.

You'll see the creature at about 2:07 in the video, and the creature instantly captured the attention of fans with his maniacal laugh and massive blaster. During Day 2 at the Celebration at the Creatures, Droids And Aliens of Star Wars: The Force Awakens panel, the character surprisingly showed up on stage (which you can watch in this video). On the stage, the panelists revealed that they have referred to the alien as "Space Monkey".

In the post-Celebration episode of The Star Wars Show that was released today, we learned more about the Space Monkey. Pablo Hidalgo joined Andi and Peter to talk about the character. His name is revealed to be Bistan, which is a name we've previously heard from some leaks few months ago. Hidalgo also reveals that Bistan's species is lakaru and his "specialty" is being a door gunner on board a U-Wing fighter. You can watch the full episode below. (The Bistan bit is at 0:35 mark).
