A lot of fans may be bummed that the Marvel Netflix shows have all been canceled, but Disney+ is planning on bringing in brand new miniseries and they will feature characters who were actually in the films. While we don't know when we're going to get our first look for them, The Hollywood Reporter gives is some new descriptions for the three upcoming shows.
Marvel's Loki TV series| Tom Hiddleston is expected to reprise his role as fan-favorite MCU character Loki in the live-action series that will follow the trickster and shape-shifter as he pops up throughout human history as an unlikely influencer on historical events. Michael Waldron will write the pilot, serve as series creator and exec produce.
Marvel's Vision and Scarlet Witch| Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen are expected to reprise their big-screen characters as Vision and Secret Witch in the series. Jac Schaeffer, one of the writers behind Captain Marvel, will run point on the series that will focus on the two integral members of the Avengers. She will pen the pilot and exec produce the series.
Marvel's Winter Soldier/Falcon team-up| Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan are expected to reprise their roles as Falcon and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier in the miniseries, which has Malcolm Spellman (Empire) set to pen the script.
Based on the descriptions, the only thing we really have a clue to the story will be the show based on Loki. Besides seeing Tom Hiddleston returning to the character in full form, it will be fascinating to see the god of mischief jumping through history in some attempt to… I don't know, get worshipped?
As for the other two, it's still unclear on whether they will be prequels or set in the contemporary times. A lot are guessing that the WS/Falcon team-up will determine who the next Captain America is, and it's likely that the Vision/Scarlet Witch series could delve into the romance of the two before Infinity War. Then again, I'm always up for the stories moving forward. Personally, I want to see more of Scarlet Witch in the spotlight. With the Marvel Fox characters coming in, she could be integral into making a House of M film.
No release dates have been set for any of these shows, but we should expect some announcements after Avengers: Endgame hits theaters. Catch the film on April 26.
