Director Rian Johnson already warned Star Wars fans that The Last Jedi might be one of the darkest installments in the franchise and now a new cover photo of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) seems to add to the growing shroud of darkness.

Featured on the cover of Mozimania, a Hungarian Magazine, the jaded Jedi Master seems to have traded in his light robes for a black robe and a black cape. Bathed in red light, the new photo which has managed to make its way online reminds fans of the Dark side of the Force.

Force sensitive individuals who align themselves with the Dark side of the Force tend to associate themselves with intimidating colors such as red and black, so it comes as a surprise that a Jedi like Luke would dress himself in the same hues.

Could this mean that Luke's beliefs would sway in The Last Jedi? The film's trailer did have the character claim "it's time for the Jedi to end" and there have been quite a number of reports from the cast and crew that Luke isn't the same Jedi fans witnessed in the original trilogy.

While it is possible that Luke would take on a different path in The Force Awakens sequel, it is unlikely that the Jedi would throw away everything to join the Dark Side. If anything, Luke might take a more neutral stance and play around with the concept of the gray Jedi – a theory that's been going on for a while.

Let's wait and see which side Luke takes when The Last Jedi premieres on December 15, 2017 .
