Netflix To Produce $25-Million Budget Female-Centric Action Film 'Kate'

Last week, it was reported that Netflix plans to spend $8 billion on original content in 2018. Now, we know that one of those films will be a hardcore female action film called Kate and it's expected to have a budget of $25 million, Deadline reports.

According to Deadline, Kate is described to be a hard boiled action thriller reminiscent of La Femme Nikita and Kill Bill. The script was written by Umair Aleem, and it's about a woman who has 24 hours to solve her own murder. Aleen's vision sees Cate Blanchett as Lee Marvin. After seeing her villainous role in Thor: Ragnarok, it would be fascinating to see Blanchett take on a badass role.

Netflix is expected to begin production for Kate on April 2018, and they're currently searching for a director to helm the film. The film will be produced by Kelly McCormick (Atomic Blonde), John Wick co-director David Leitch, and Bryan Unkeless (The Hunger Games).
