Netflix Officially Announces The Witcher Anime Film

The Witcher universe is slowly getting bigger and it'll get a lot more exciting with a new anime film on its way to Netflix.

Following the reports of fansite Redanian Intelligence and the fans' months of speculations, the streaming service confirms that a new Witcher story is in the works. The Witcher showrunner Lauren Hissrich, as well as Beau De Mayo, who wrote the third episode of the show's first season, are attached to the upcoming project.

The film will be titled The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf and the iconic Studio Mir will be animating the film. There's very little details revealed as of now, but the movie will "take us back to a new threat facing the Continent."

Aside from the plot, Netflix has yet to provide further information but Witcher fans are surely excited for the upcoming film. The first season of the show was definitely a hit amongst Netflix viewers, with The Witcher on track to become the streaming service's biggest first season ever.

As for the show's second season, the series is set to return sometime in 2021 and will surely feature a lot more surprises. There'll be a new set of characters, and viewers will likely learn more about Ciri's mysterious abilities and follow along her journey with Geralt and Yennefer.
