Netflix Acquires Mark Millar's Comic Book Publishing House, Millarworld

If you have no idea who Mark Millar is, he's the man behind comic book gold stories like Civil War, Old Man Logan, and Red Son Superman. He's also the guy responsible for writing the original Kick-Ass, Wanted, and Kingsman: The Secret Service comics. News has it that Netflix has just acquired his publishing house, Millarworld, and they're planning to produce more material based on original comics from Millar.

Here's the announcement:

Under the banner you have titles like Kick-Ass, Nemesis, Starlight, and Superior. There was even news before that there were plans to adapt Millar's comic called Chrononauts, and with Netflix getting the rights, the project may just move forward.

Here's what Netflix's Ted Sarantos had to say in an official press release:

"Mark has created a next-generation comics universe, full of indelible characters living in situations people around the world can identify easily with… We look forward to creating new Netflix Originals from several existing franchises as well as new super-hero, anti-hero, fantasy, sci-fi and horror stories Mark and his team will continue to create and publish."

Honestly, I have to admit, my only exposure of Millar has been his work on DC and Marvel, and I read Kick-Ass 2 right after I finished watching the first movie. Millar is one of my all-time favorite comic writers, and with the Netflix acquisition, I'm actually interested to read some more of his stories moving forward.

There hasn't been any specifics on what Millaroworld project Netflix has chosen to adapt first, but they have a rich treasure chest of content for a long time to come.
