Mr. Sinister Confirmed To Be A Villain in Wolverine 3, First Footage Coming Soon

The post-credits scene of X-Men: Apocalypse teased the appearance of Mister Sinister in a future X-Men film. Director Bryan Singer confirmed that the movie is Wolverine 3. Cinemablend pointed out the confirmation in the commentary that was included in the X-Men: Apocalypse digital release.

In that particular scene, a man is seen wearing glasses drawing the blood of Weapon X, a.k.a. Wolverine, from the Alkali Lake facility. He places the blood in a briefcase with the name Essex Corp. on it. Essex Corp. is the company owned by Nathaniel Essex, the real name of Mister Sinister. There's also a rumor that X-23 would also appear in Wolverine 3, which would make sense if Mr. Sinister is involved.

Mr. Sinister is one of the most powerful villains in the X-Men universe, a former scientist, who after an altercation by Apocalypse, ends up having "enhanced durability and an extended lifespan. Over the years, Sinister has used the genetic material of other mutants to grant himself a vast array of powers including telepathy, telekinesis, superhuman strength, the ability to project concussive energy from his hands, and total control of his body at the molecular level."

The actor playing the villain wasn't confirmed yet, but he's most likely Richard E. Grant, whose role has been described as "Mad scientist".

Director James Marigold also said on Twitter that the first footage from Wolverine 3 will be released soon. When a fan asked him about it, he said:

"Working on it every day in edit room, Vince. You'll hear and see things very soon. Glad you're pumped & I hope we surprise you."

Wolverine 3 is set to release in theaters on March 3, 2017.
