Moviegoers More Interested In Seeing Avengers: Infinity War Than Star Wars

There's been so much excitement building up over Avengers: Infinity War. Not only has the first installment in Marvel's two-part Avengers movie become one of the biggest earners in terms of advanced ticket sales, it's also raking more movie interest than Star Wars.

The Wall Street Journal just recently conducted a survey asking participants which film they're most excited to see this summer, and according to the results of the study, 45% of those who participated in the survey had Avengers: Infinity as their most highly anticipated film. Only 33% of the participants answered that The Force Awakens was their most highly anticipated film before the Star Wars film released.

Of course, the data might be a little more skewed considering the release dates of both films. While Infinity War is just a week away from its premiere, The Force Awakens finished its run back in 2015. Excitement over a movie can also be influenced by its proximity.

Aside from that factor, Infinity War marks the beginning of the culmination of Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Bringing together more than sixty Marvel characters, the studio has been claiming that Infinity War and Avengers 4 actually might be the biggest crossover movie event of all time. Considering the number of characters that it's trying to feature, it very well might be.

Avengers: Infinity War premieres April 27.
